Bargain hunting

Who doesn’t love a deal?!?! Today, after scooping up EP from the house, we went to lunch and then to run some errands. Part of those errands was to find some pants for EP. We stopped by Ross and I ended up finding a pair of Lee Relaxed Fit jeans for $7. Score! After not finding anything that really tickled his fancy, EP and I headed on over to Marshalls. I found another pair of the exact same jeans I had just gotten at Ross, only for $10. This was not quite as exciting as the first find, but still very good. So far, $80 in jeans for $17. While EP was trying on some pants, I wandered over to the tops. I had to surgically remove myself from that area after discovering a whole slew of Ralp Lauren tops for under $20!!!! In all, I came out of Ross & Marshalls with two pairs of jeans and five Ralph Lauren tops, including a sweater, for just over $100! And to think, I was excited last week when Winn Dixie had their Raisin Bran Crunch (and yes, the commercials are accurate - you can’t hear poop while chewing that cereal!) BOGO and I came home with four boxes!

I think I found a new addiction boys & girls….when’s the next payday? ;)

Reconnecting with old friends

In high school, I had two BFFs - Alisha and Teresa. Teresa and I attended the same school, while Alisha and I met at church. If I wasn’t at work, I was with one of them. After high school, Alisha and I ended up going to college in the same town in Massachusetts while Teresa stayed in Georgia. For several years, I kept up with the both of them. But, as time passed, I did not see either of them as much. Now, some 15 years since I graduated from high school (DAYUM!!! I’m getting O-L-D!!), I am getting a chance to reconnect with both of them.

Alisha has ended up back in Georgia, not too far from where we grew up. She is happily married with three absolutely gorgeous little girls! I have actually gotten to see her twice in the past several months. We try our best to keep up with one another and our families via e-mail and brief visits whenever we’re in the same town. And, I’ve given her enough notice that she has no excuse not to be at my wedding! :-)

Teresa is another story. She is harder to keep track of than a black cat in a dark room! She is always popping up somewhere new. Not too long before I started dating EP, she tracked me down somehow. I don’t even remember how long it had been since I had last seen or talked to her. At the time, she was in Mountain Home, ID! I had never even heard of that place….the funny thing was, it turns out that one of EP’s long time friends was there as well! Apparently there’s an Air Force base there or something. Anyways, we kept in touch for a bit even after she relocated to Wyoming (WTF?!?! Where is this girl going?!?!). However, it was inevitable that we’d lose track again. Lives just get busy as you grow up (I’m still fighting it!!!) and your best intentions get derailed by….responsibilities!!

The other day, though, I realized I needed to track her down once again. I couldn’t exactly have the wedding of my dreams and not have my other BFF there! I knew her parents still lived in the same town but I just couldn’t find their info. I was able to dig out an old e-mail address I had for her and just crossed my fingers that it was still good. In these days where people have multiple e-mail addresses (I have 7 that I actually use, not including work!) you never know if it’s one they actually use. Needless to say, I was very happy to see a reply from her in my inbox this morning! So, I was able to chat with her a bit this afternoon on my way home from work and now have her cell phone number and she is sending me her mailing address as well as her parents’ and hopefully they will all be there to share in one of the happiest days of my life!

Spanish for your nanny…

Thanks to Mama Frenchie for this gem. The sad part is, I’m sure there are women out there just like the ladies in this video. Enjoy!

Am I a traitor???

With college football season long gone and the NFL done as of a couple of weeks ago, I am normally pretty sport dormant this time of year. I used to only have to wait until baseball started up to get my sports fix, but as of late, the sport has lost a lot of its appeal. It has nothing to do with The Mitchell Report - my love for the game started cooling off a few years back. But, that’s for another time. At any rate, I have never been accused of being a fan of basketball whether it be pro or college. Every now and then, my buddy would get me wrapped up in March Madness, but that was more because of his excitement over it. However, since meeting EP, I have been introduced to the wonderful world of women’s college basketball. Specifically, the Lady Vols. *GASP* I know! I can’t believe it! ME? A Bulldog fan falling in love with the enemy?!?!? Will they revoke my fan card? I can’t help it. It’s like a dirty little secret.

My first time with them was during last year’s women’s tournament. I got more and more excited each time I saw them play. Once football was done for the year, I found myself being inexplicably drawn yet again to the ladies in orange. Pat Summitt is truly amazing, being the winningnest coach in all of college basketball - women and men!

I am not Catholic, but I feel like I should go to confession. But, instead of a priest, perhaps I should confess my sins to UGA VI???
